Plaid Tuba Interactive Mural Video

As part of Gallery Night in July of 2008, Finn Digital participated in videotaping the creation of an interactive art mural produced by the community.

Sponsored by the Plaid Tuba Project, local artist Reggie Baylor along with ArtMail Milwaukee members and the public worked hand-in-hand to complete this unique wall mural using colored pencils. The piece was donated to the Catch a Rising Star Foundation to draw attention to the work they do in supporting and sustaining the Milwaukee High School of the Arts.

Check out the video:

Bill and I (along with our production techs Dan R. and Laura S.) got to not only capture this event for posterity in video (through both video production and editing) but also took part in the art! If you watch carefully, there are two quick shots us in the video.

It was great being able to support the local arts community and be a part of a great interactive project.

The Importance of Social Networks for Business

The idea of using social media networks to build brand equity can be a foreign concept for many business. However, the sheer impact of the Internet and the word-of-mouth generated from these networks can be more effective that traditional advertising.

Who else thinks so? Check out this article from Business Week. A corollary article is available here.

Getting involved in social networking can build a new generation of brand-loyal--and more importantly, brand-aware--consumers of a company's products and services.

Web Development Intern

Finn Digital is in need of a web development intern for this coming fall semester.

While we are sad to see our current intern Ally leave us to head back to school, we would love to have another student willing and able to take on the responsibilities of working on various interactive media projects, ranging from web design and development to email marketing to Flash production.

Check out our internship posting on the Big Shoes Network for more details!

A Nice Gift from China

We are lucky at Finn Digital to have great partnerships with companies that truly make a difference in the international realm.

On July 21st, Jill and I got an opportunity to be at the unveiling of two carved stone lions that were a gift from the city of Ningbo in China. Milwaukee and Ningbo share quite a few commonalities, from its size to its proximity to a larger city (Chicago to Milwaukee, and Beijing to Ningbo) to each having an active port.

Since our boss Bill is a member of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce's China Business Council, it was nice to be able to represent the company at this particular presentation.

It was also great because Carrie Fix, Manager of International Trade Development at M.E. Dey & Co., Inc.--the company responsible for the safe shipment of this wonderful gift--is the wife of our boss! Check out her pic and more info about the event here.

Being Chinese myself, it was neat to watch the others in the audience experience a celebratory dragon dance and being in awe of such a gift to the city.
